We’ve got exciting news: our NJ Crane Expert trainers are branching out into a new event. Don’t worry, they are not leafing us forever. See what we did there? Bad tree puns aside, you know that we are seriously committed to all things safety related, which is why we are proud to sponsor Crane Safety Climber School through The Crane Man Inc.

The Crane Man? Yes, you read it right. We think TheBadHans and The Crane Man would probably make a very cool band, or at least a decent cover band, but both businesses and business owners have a lot in common professionally. Pete (The Crane Man) has been operating cranes for 22 years and has been NCCCO certified since 2001. He is a licensed PA and NJ crane operator, founder and president of The Crane Man Inc. since 2008, founder of Crane Safety Climber School since 2011, and an “all around fun guy to hang out with.” Or at least, that’s how he’d most prefer to be known.

Eleven years ago, Pete and a group of other tree guys started noticing the difference between the “A Guys” and the “F Guys,” in terms of their varying levels of experience and capabilities. While some guys looked like pros when taking down trees with cranes, others were really struggling. Pete and his crew decided they wanted to help set an industry standard with a focus on safety and efficiency and pooled together their time and resources to found the Crane Safety Climber School. Through the program, Pete and his team bring all levels together in one place to share experiences and a common interest.

What started with just eleven students is now up to 60! For the past few years, the training event has sold out within 24-32 hours and has gained international success and recognition. Pete jokes that “this became the spot all the cool kids came to hang out.” We agree!

Over the years, the event has also gained sponsorships and industry support; instructors volunteer their services just to be included. Naturally, when we were invited to partner with The Crane Man Inc. and throw some of our staff into the mix for this event, we were honored to meet their standards and happy to oblige. Two of our talented trainers Warren Hippeli and Guy Cerullo have joined a team of 15+ other tree industry professionals for Crane Safety Climber School 2021. This three day course is being held April 15th, 16th, and 17th, at the Malvern Retreat House in Malvern, PA. Climbers and attendees will get invaluable hands-on training, real world experience, plus familiarity with rigging and cutting techniques used in crane and knuckleboom removals.

While Crane Safety School was founded eleven years ago, last year they had to put their highly sought after event on hold as a result of COVID-19 restrictions. Now, Pete and the Crane Safety Climber School are excited to return and celebrate their ten year anniversary. This year’s event is already sold out, but there is always next year. If you have at least two years of climbing experience, then you are eligible for this course which offers credits including CTSP - 21, ISA CEU's - 21. Click here to learn more.
